How is an EPC calculated?No two properties are the same. Each property has has its own heating and heat loss caracteristics. To calculate an EPC seventeen pieces of information need to be collected relating to that specific property. Some of the information required is a follows: - Property Age - Floor Area & Ceiling Heights - Composition of External Walls - Roofspace insulation - Type of Heating System - Type of Heating Controls - Number of Fireplaces - Type of Windows - Number of low energy light fittings Once all the information has been gathered by the DEA, they pass the information in software that calculates the EPC rating for the building. The software factors in all the input information to calculate the energy rating.
