Experience
Shane is a graduate of the Queens University of Belfast, where he obtained a degree and masters in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by Taylor & Fegan (T&F) Mechanical & Electrical Consulting Engineers. His duties included the design and supervision of large scale heating and ventilation installations and energy assessment. He supervised projects in excess of 1 million pounds. Shane left T&F to pursue a career in Energy Assessment. In March 2008 he created Ember Energy NI. The company has went from strength to strength and is now one of the leading domestic and commercial energy assessment companies in Greater Belfast and the surrounding areas.
Personal Statement
‘I have always had an interest in Energy assessment and energy in general. Modern society has taken cheap energy for granted for too long. Energy is being wasted by house holds and businesses throughout Northern Ireland. Energy Performance Certificates are a step in the right direction to correcting this wrong. EPCs give information on how energy efficient your house or building is performing but more importantly it gives recommendations on how to improve its energy efficiency. This will have the gradual effect of improving the existing building stock.
This is a win win situation with less fuel getting wasted, lower fuel bills and a reduction on the environmental impact.
